A World We View Pt 2

Save Africa's Animals Africa is an absolutely beautiful place. From the remoteness of the Sahara desert in the north to the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa has an amazingly diverse ecosystem. The purpose of my organization Save Africa's Animals  is to preserve the natural beauty that Africa is known for by focusing on those that need it the most: its wildlife. In 2014 I was fortunate enough to travel to South Africa during a family trip. During our travels we spent 10 days in the Sabi Sands game reserve. We were able to travel across the grasslands observing some of Africa's most beautiful wildlife from rhinos, to giraffes, to lion cubs that walked right up to our car. I was in total awe of these majestic creatures and was especially disturbed when our guide would often point out their decreasing populations. Many of Africa's most stunning wildlife is endangered. The African Elephant population is estimated to be at 350,000 which is down 140,000 since 2007 (The ...

From 1st grad to Senior year in high school I went to Catholic school. Having a Catholic education meant having a lot of social and moral ideas constantly thrust upon you. One of these was of course volunteering and giving back to your community. Community service is a major Catholic tenement that anyone who had a similar experience as me is familiar with. Having this as such an important part of your education often meant mandatory community service hours each year in order to get your grade report. In my case it meant 25 hours each year that had to be signed off by your parent and by your community service supervisor. Im usually a very stubborn guy and when something is mandatory that tends to disincentive me to do it, so I did my mandatory hours begrudgingly but did not go above or beyond. Because of these mandatory hours I often had a negative association with community work. However, there were two separate (and very different) experiences that I had that not only opened my to the...

Random Post

So to be honest, I just remembered that this assignment was due right now  8pm   on Friday . Since I am currently at the 90 for happy hour I guess that this writing piece will be a description of what's going on here. For those of you that don't know the 90 has a happy hour deal of 2 for 1 drinks which is a great deal. My go to drink here is usually the sculpin grapefruit. I'm usually a fan of IPAs since that is what my dad always drinks at home so he introduced me to them. But what I really like about the grapefruit IPA is the citrus flavor. It's pretty refreshing after one of those infamously hot LA summer days.   Right now the 90 is decently full. Seems like most of the people here are to watch the dodger game. They are currently 2-0 in the top of the 3rd. However, what I'm watching right now is the World Series of Poker. I really like to play poker with my friends on occasion so like to see how the pros play. I try to learn a little bit on how to play from the...

A quick look at the Seahawks 2017 season

With the freedom that comes with a random blog post, I decided to dedicate this post to the upcoming season of the Seattle Seahawks-my favorite team in the world. Being born and raised in Seattle I have been consistently molded into the die-hard fan I am today. Because of the recent success the Seahawks have had I am often accused of being a “band wagon” fan that has just recently  been rooting for the team. However, that is far from the case. I remember being 10 years old and yelling at the refs on TV after the controversial loss to the Steelers in the 2005 Super Bowl. Or when Mike Holmgren didn’t allow Shaun Alexander to play the final quarter in the 2006 season to get him over 2000 yards rushing and to become the undisputed rushing leader of the year. After that we had a few tough years under Jim Mora and then the greatest coach in history Pete Carroll. But fortunately our division was so bad that Pete led us to...

Crypto-currency: Boom or Bust? In 1971 President Richard Nixon drastically altered the future of financial exchanges by separating the US dollar from gold and thus creating the free-floating fiat currency (paper money) market we are familiar with today. But, there was no way for him to know how monumental that change would be come 2017 when currency is now shifting from the tangible fiat to the digital. Many people who watch the news may be familiar with the most famous crypto-currency Bitcoin. However, there are hundreds more of these types of currencies out on the market today. In this article we will first define what is crypto-currency and how it’s used, then look at the brief history of crypto-currency, how it is set up through secure block chains, and what its future looks like. Crypto-Currency: There is no central regulated authority (such as the Federal Reserve for the US dollar) that governs crypto-currencies, which you’ll see is a main attraction for buy...
